I hope it is a landslide. I remember arguing with a democrat-voting friend of mine before the first non-election of Bush. Bush will never win was his first position. Then it became: Well, he has some very smart people working with him. (To which I retorted that nobody ever voted for someone because they had smart friends). Eventually his position shifted to: No president has ever controlled both houses and these checks and balances were built into the constitution. Now, at election time, he drives around Washington State towing a trailer with a giant fibreglass statue of Dubya and the words: Liar, liar, pants on fire.

One can only change an open mind, William, but I'm nevertheless flattered and pleased. I believe Mr Obama will win the Presidency in a landslide, if he wins the primaries, which is looking likely. And it's likely if Ms Clinton wins the primaries, she'll win in a landslide too. The vast majority of the American people are as fed up of war as we are.

A pity we can't vote in this one, eh? ;>) It affects all our lives, that's for sure.

Thanks for pointing me to these, Philip. Changed my mind about Obama. Anyway, whichever wins, it won't be more of the same. Even McCain is human by comparison with Bush.
