The poet Mark Granier rang me up about a literary matter the other day and in the course of our conversation mentioned his photo blog on blipfoto, which I must confess I never heard of.
It’s called Skyroad,
after his forthcoming collection from Salmon. I logged into it while were talking and was blown away, as they say in the best circles. I vaguely knew that Mark “did” photography, but I had no idea he was so talented. He’s a fine poet too, and it shows in his commentary on the photos, where he quotes his own work or Seamus Heaney or Ted Hughes, or whoever is appropriate. This is well worth checking out.
He has another blog, Lightbox, which I haven’t yet had time to check out.
You can read some of Mark’s poems from his first book airborne on Salmon Poetry. His new book from the same press will be available in mid-May.
UPDATE: apologies, I gave just the blipfoto home page for Skyroad. The link should work now.
Apologies for that, Paul. I ommitted the address to Mark’s site on blipfoto, which is http://www.blipfoto.com/skyroad
I’ve corrected this in the post and thanks for writing to let me know.
How do you find marks photos on blipfoto? do I have to register to see them? have seen one or two of them before and they seem vaguely Italian to me, no?
