Letting Go of That Which You Most Ardently Desire

I’ve missed a lot of things of late, for various reasons, but perhaps the event I most regret missing was Letting Go of That Which You Most Ardently Desire.

It was devised by Mannix Flynn and his Far Cry Productions company, and one of the reasons I missed it was that I didn’t quite appreciate the secrecy surrounding the event. The secrecy, in which you were brought in a blacked-out van to the first venue, was of the utmost necessity, as one of the rooms in the old Victorian building in which the installation was housed contained real AK-47 assault rifles, among other weapons.

Letting Go of What You Most Ardently Desire, as Mannix explains in the RTÉ interview linked to below, is about letting go of violence in ourselves and in our history, among other things. But listen to the interview.

You may be glad to hear that when the event was over, Far Cry Productions called the Garda Siochána, who took the AK-47s etc out of circulation.
