Harold Pinter wins Nobel Prize

They said you’ve a call from the Nobel com­mit­tee. I said, why?‘
Harold Pin­ter has won the Nobel Prize, cap­ping a week in which a ret­ro­spec­tive of his plays was staged in the Gate The­atre in Dublin.
About the reac­tion of cer­tain ele­ments of the press, he had this to say:

They don’t like it if you don’t respond like a chim­panzee. But I’m not a chim­panzee and I don’t intend ever to be a fuck­ing chim­panzee. Not that I’ve any­thing against chimpanzees.”
