In France the authorities have opened an preliminary investigation into the purchase of an old apartment in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 2006, after the satirical magazine Le Canard Enchaîné revealed the current President Sarkozy had bought it for somewhere between 12% and 35% below its market price.
It sounds a bit classier than Bertie’s pad, as you might expect. But a duplex of 233 square metres costing only €300,000? Maybe Bertie should move to France.
